In almost all species of lemongrass, the leaves are aromatic.
Among the best known species are Ceylon lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus) and Java lemongrass (Cymbopogon winterianus); the latter species of lemongrass is considered very valuable thanks to its high content of essential oils.
