The Dammar Gumis a resin from about fifty species of Dipterocarpacee from Indonesia, Malaysia, Siam.
It has good adhesive power and low acidity.
Soluble in aromatic solvents and turpentine essence
It is obtained as an exudation from trees of the Dipterocarpaceae family (genera Shorea, Balanocarpus and Hopea) and then solidified. Once solidified, the resin has the appearance of pale ivory yellow granules, soft and crumbly, with a characteristic odor.
