LABDANUM RESINOIDE
Pimpinella Anisum L.
ASK FOR SPECIFIC PRICES, AVAILABILITY and / or QUALITY
Plant native to south-eastern Europe and northern Africa, the Cistus has an erect, not very compact habit, with very aromatic sticky branches, which bear sessile, persistent, opposite, lanceolate leaves, 3-9 cm long, opaque, aromatic, gummy, dark green in color, with a cottony underside. In May-June it produces 5-6 cm wide racemes of flowers, with white petals spotted with purple-brown at the base and very showy yellow stamens. It develops up to 1.5-1.8 m. high and 1.2 m. wide.
In summer, the glandular hairs located on leaves and stems exude an aromatic and sticky resin called labdanum, already used by Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, which becomes opaque with the cold, giving the plant a leaden appearance.

It is currently used as a fixative to obtain an intense and stable perfume. It is the plant product that comes closest to the ambergris obtained from whales, and in this sense it can replace it.
